تدل الحقائق العلمية المعروفة عن كوكب ( أورانوس ) أن له طريقة عجيبة في الدوران حول الشمس ، يتميز بها عن أي كوكب آخر في المجموعة الشمسية ، إذ أنه يميل كثيراً على جانبه ، وكأنه (يتدحرج) في مداره ، كما تدور العربات المثبتة حول عجلة الدوران الكبرى التي نشاهدها في مدينة الملاهي ، وهذا الوضع يساعد الفلكيين على رؤية المناطق القطبية للكوكب ومناطقه الاستوائية على حد سواء.
لكوكب ( أورانوس ) نظام حلقي مثل كوكب ( زحل ) حيث ظهر له تسع حلقات ذات مركز واحد وبعرض أقل من مائة كيلومتر ، وهي لا تُرى من كوكب الأرض بالعين المجردة ، بينما نستطيع مشاهدة ( أورانوس ) نفسه بسهولة ، ويظهر في سماء كوكب (أورانوس) سبعة وعشرون قمراً ، تتسابق على طول الأفق بسرعة مذهلة ، أكبرها القمر ( تيتانيا ).
يُتم كوكب ( أورانوس ) دورة كاملة حول الشمس في 84 عاماً ، وبسرعة تصل إلى 20 كيلومتراً في الثانية ، بينما يدور حول محوره كل ما يقرب من 16 ساعة ، ويبلغ طول قطره حوالي 51.200 كيلومتر ، وتصل درجة حرارته إلى 216 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر ، والغلاف الجوي لكوكب ( أورانوس ) مؤلف من غيوم من الميثان والهليوم والهيدروجين.
