ترايتون … بارد جداً ( سلسلة المجموعة الشمسية – الموضوع رقم 22 )

( ترايتون ) هو أكبر أقمار كوكب (نبتون) ، إذ يبلغ قطره نحو 2700 كيلومتر ، ويُعد أبرد جسم في المجوعة الشمسية ، إذ تصل درجة حرارة سطحه إلى نحو 235 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر ويبعد عن ( نبتون ) بحوالي 354 ألفاً و800 كيلومتر.

الغلاف الجوي للقمر ( ترايتون ) رقيق جداً ، ويتكون من جزيئات النتروجين المجمدة على شكل سحب ، تمتد على ارتفاع عدة كيلومترات من سطحه. و ( ترايتون ) هو القمر الضخم الوحيد في المجموعة الشمسية ، الذي يدور حول كوكبه في اتجاه تراجعي ، أي أنه يتحرك في اتجاه مضاد لاتجاه دوران كوكب ( نبتون ).

يحتوي القمر ( ترايتون ) في مركزه على صخور تزيد في كميتها عن أي من الأقمار الجليدية لكوكبي ( زحل ) و( أورانوس ) ، لذا يُعد قمراً شديد الكثافة. والمعتقد أن كوكب ( نبتون ) اقتنص هذا القمر منذ آلاف الملايين من السنيين ، أثناء تجواله في الفضاء ، ومن ثم أصبح تابعاً له.

الغريب في القمر ( ترايتون ) أنه يمتلئ بالشقوق الجبارة ، والينابيع النشطة التي تقذف بغاز النتروجين وجزيئات داكنة من الغبار ، إلى عدة كيلومترات عالياً حيث الغلاف الجوي ، ويدور القمر ( ترايتون ) حول محوره في نحو ستة أيام ، وكذلك حول كوكب ( نبتون ) في نفس المدة.

وهناك لون أرجواني خفيف يصبغ معظم أجزاء القطب الجنوبي للقمر ، أما القطب الشمالي فلونه أحمر داكن ، ويرجع هذا إلى تأثير الإشعاع فوق البنفسجي على الغازات التي تكون الغلاف الجوي ، فيبدو القطبان بهذه الألوان ، كما أن هناك نطاقاً من المواد البيضاء تمتد من القطبين.
