زحل … جوهرة المجموعة الشمسية ( سلسلة المجموعة الشمسية – الموضوع رقم 15 )

أطلق على كوكب ( زحل ) .. جوهرة المجموعة الشمسية ، بسبب حلقاته الرائعة ذات الألوان المختلفة ، التي تضفي عليه منظراً خلاباً في السماء فسبحان الله الذي خلقه وأبدعه.

ويُعد (زحل) العملاق الثاني بعد ( المشتري ) ، وهو السادس من حيث بُعده عن الشمس ، وتبلغ المسافة بينهما نحو 1427 مليون كيلومتر.

من أغرب تكوينات كوكب ( زحل ) تلك الأحزمة السوداء المدهشة التي تبدو وكأنها ( ضفائر ) جبارة مجدولة ومدمجة في بعضها البعض ، وهي مشدودة وملتفة حول الكوكب بشكل جذاب يُحير العقل.

( زحل ) كوكب غازي ، كثافته هي الأقل بين جميع كواكب المجموعة الشمسية ، حتى يُقال أنه يمكن أن ( يطفو ) فوق الماء لانخفاض كثافته!

يتكون جو كوكب ( زحل ) من الهيدروجين 97% ، وغازات أخرى مثل الهليوم والميثان والأمونيا 3% يبلغ قطر هذا الكوكب نحو 120 ألف كيلومتر ، وتصل درجة الحرارة فوقه إلى حوالي 180 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر ، ويتميز هذا الكوكب بعواصفه الشديدة التي تهب بالقرب من خطه الاستوائي ، وتصل سرعتها إلى خمسمائة متر في الثانية!

يُقدر عدد حلقات ( زحل ) بالآلاف. معظمها صغير الحجم. ونسيج كل حلقة عبارة عن أجسام فضائية دقيقة الحجم نسبياً ، ولكن هناك عدة حلقات كبيرة بعضها لامع وبعضها معتم ، بينهما حاجز من الفراغ المظلم يقسمهما إلى حلقتين ، ويُعرف هذا الحاجز بفراغ ( كاسيني ) على اسم العالم الذي اكتشفه في القرن السابع عشر.

قد يصل عرض بعض هذه الحلقات إلى حوالي 25 ألف كيلومتر ، وحلقات ( زحل ) شفافة ورفيعة نسبياً ، إذ يتراوح سمكها بين 15 و80 كيلومتراً ، ويعتقد بعض علماء الفلك أن هذه الحلقات عبارة عن آلاف الملايين من الأقمار الصغيرة الجليدية التي تدور في فلك الكوكب ، أو ربما كانت مواد لقمر لم يتكون بعد ، أو بقايا أحد الأقمار المتفجرة ، وهو في طور التكوين.

يدور كوكب ( زحل ) حول محوره كل عشر ساعات وتسع وثلاثين دقيقة ، وهو طول اليوم فوقه ، بينما يكمل دورته حول الشمس في 29.5 سنة ، ولكوكب ( زحل ) ثلاثون قمراً ، أكبرها ( تيتان ).
