إضاءة الشوارع

ريدريك ابهام ادامز مخترع ومؤلف أمريكي ( 1859-1921 ) . اشتهر ادامز في اختراعاته في مجال إضاءة الشوارع وفي مجال تجهيزات خطوط السكك الحديدية . انشأ ادامز وحرر مجلة  The New Time – العصر الجديد . كما كتب حول الهندسة والمشكلات الاجتماعية. بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد ألف عدة روايات ناجحة.

إن ابن الهيثم عرف الضوء بتعريفين مختلفين ، أحدهما أن الضوء حرارة نارية تنبعث من الأجسام المضيئة بذاتها كالشمس أو النار أو الجسم المتوهج ، وأنه إذا أشرق على جسم كثيف أسخنه  وإذا انعكس عن مرآة مقعرة واجتمع عند نقطة  واحدة ، وكان عندها جسم يقبل الاحتراق أحرقه ،

ويعتبر ابن الهيثم أن ماهية الأضواء الذاتية ماهية الأضواء العرضية واحدة ، وأن للضوء وجودا ً ذاتيا ً ، وأن الإبصار إنما هو بفعل هذا الضوء الذي يشرق من المبصر ، وينفذ من المشف إلى البصر.

كما يذكر مصطفى نظيف في كتابه : ” الحسن بن الهيثم : بحوثه وكشوفه البصرية ” .” إن ابن الهيثم قسم الضوء إلى قسمين :

القسم الأول : الأضواء التي تشرق من الأجسام المضيئة بذاتها كضوء الشمس وضوء النار، وسماها الذاتية .

القسم الثاني : وهي التي تشرق من الأجسام التي ليست مضيئة بذاتها ، وإنما تشرق منها إذا كانت بجوار الأجسام المضيئة بذاتها أو المضيئة بغيرها وسماها ” الأضواء العرضية “.

انعكاس الضوء : يتناول مصطفى نظيف في كتابه ” البصريات الهندسية والعلمية ” موضوع الانعكاس فيذكر إن ابن الهيثم تناول في بحوث الشعاع الساقط والمنعكس السقوط يسمى العمود ، والزاوية المحصورة بين الشعاع الساقط والعمود تسمى زاوية السقوط ، والزاوية المحصورة بين الشعاع المنعكس والعمود تسمى زاوية الانعكاس.

وانعكاس الضوء الذي يحدث بهذه الكيفية عند سطح الماء أو الزجاج أو المعادن المصقولة ينقاد لقانونين يعرفان بقانوني الانعكاس ، ينص الأول منهما على أن الشعاع الساقط والعمود والشعاع المنعكس تقع جميعها في مستوى واحد ، بينما ينص القانون الثاني منهما على أن زاوية السقوط لزاوية الانعكاس .

كذلك شرح الحسن بن الهيثم نظرية انعكاس الضوء بطريقة حديثة جدا ً مفترضا ً أن الضوء شيء مادي ، حيث ينعكس الضوء من الأجسام الصقيلة ( المصقولة ) ، تماما ً كما ترتد الكرة من الجسم الصلب عند اصطدامها به ،

قد لعبت هذه النظرية دورا ً هاما ً عبر التاريخ ، ومن المؤسف حقا ً  أن الكثير من علماء الغرب يدعون خطأ  أن إسحاق نيوتن ( 1642 – 1727 م ) هو مبتكر هذه النظرية .

انعطاف الضوء : ذهب الحسن بن الهيثم في شرحه لكيفية انعكاس الضوء إلى تمثيل ذلك بعملية ارتداد كرة ملساء عن سطح مانع لحركتها ، كما أنه علل ظاهرة الانعطاف بتباين سرعة الضوء بحسب الوسط الذي يسري فيه ، إذ تكون الضوء – على حد قوله – أعظم في الوسط الألطف منها في الوسط الأغلظ ،

ولعل ذلك يفسر كون الانعطاف في الوسط الأغلظ أقرب إلى الخط العمودي على سطح الانعطاف منه في حالة الوسط الألطف ، كذلك قال ابن الهيثم أن السبيل الذي يسلكه الضوء في انعطافه هو ذلك المسار الذي تكون حركته فيه أيسر وأسرع ، بهذه المعاني حقق الحسن بن الهيثم ولا شك سبقا ً عظيما ً على علماء الغرب الذين وقفوا على هذه المفاهيم بعده.

وجدير بالذكر أن كمال الدين الفارسي ( المتوفى عام 1320 ميلادية ) قد جاوز ما وصل إليه ابن الهيثم في بحوث الانعطاف ، فدرس أوضاعا ً أخرى لم يعرض لها ابن الهيثم ، حيث جاوز الفارسي حدود الانعطاف الصرف في الكرة المشفة إلى الانعطاف المصحوب بالانعكاس الداخلي ، وأسس على نتائج هذه الدراسة نظريته الخاصة بقوس قزح ، ودراسات الفارسي هذه تشكل إضافة علمية قيمة إلى علم الضوء .

الحركة الموجية للضوء : يشير كمال الدين الفارسي في كتابه ” تنقيح المناظر لذوي الأبصار والبصائر ” إلى أن الضوء يسري بحركة موجية شأنه شأن الصوت الذي ينتقل في تموجات ، ولقد كانت طبيعة الأمواج الصوتية وانتقالها وارتدادها عن الحوائل معروفة تماما ً في كتب الطبيعيات العربية ،

ولعل الفارسي كان سباقا ً إلى النظرية الموجية للضوء ، حيث يقول في كتابه بلفظه :” والحركة التي مر تقريرها في الأضواء إنما هي على نحو حركة الأصوات ، لا على نحو حركة الأجسام ” .
