آلة موسيقية مصنوعة على مبدأ المنفاخ ، ويصدر الصوت منها عن طريق نفخ الهواء من خلال قصبات معدنية ، وإن شكل الأكورديون الحالي قد تطور من أشكال عديدة عبر مئات السنين.

لقد استعملت المزامير المعدنية من قبل الصين في القديم ، وسميت الآلة ، ” تشينغ ” وفي القرن السادس عشر ، نشأت فكرة وضع إطارات خشبية على المنفاخ.

إن فتح وإغلاق المنفاخ يسبب حصول تيار هوائي يمر عبر المزامير عند الضغط على مفاتيح المزامير ، مما يسبب صدور نغمات محددة.

ويعود تاريخ اختراع لوحة المفاتيح ، كالتي تستعمل في البيانو إلى القرن الثاني عشر.

وقد اخترعت الآلة الأولى ، التي تعتبر ” سلف ” أو ” جد ” إلى آلة الأكورديون الجديد ، إلى رجل نمساوي يدعى ” داميان ” عام 1829 م.

وقد عرفت آلة الأكورديون على خشبة المسرح الأمريكي للرقص والتمثيل الارتجالي المضحك.

ويبدو أنه تطور بطرق عديدة منذ ذلك الوقت.

وفي عام 1937 م استعمل لأول مرة من قبل فرقة موسيقية تعزف السيمفونية.
